SUMMARY:Introducing the Darley Dale Band!
DESCRIPTION:The band is rehearsing for this year’s programme and requests for concerts throughout the year are coming in.  They have several bookings for Christmas already! \nDarley Dale Band has enjoyed a revival. We have attracted players from Darley and the towns and villages around who enjoy practising and performing together to a high standard without the constraints of contesting.  Several of the band members have Championship Section experience however and provide welcome support for others who\, for example\, learned an instrument at school and have rediscovered the pleasure of banding. \nWe rehearse from 7.30 to 9.30 on Monday evenings at South Darley Village Hall which is at Cross Green DE4 2JT on the road from Darley Bridge to Wensley. \nOur varied programme has included village carnivals\, Sunday evenings in Darley Dale\, concerts for local community groups\, the Remembrance parade\, Christmas music at St Helen’s and St Mary’s churches and events with the Darley Dale Twinning Association. \nSince its formation in 1880 the Band has had its ups and downs – closing down in the 1960s\, reforming in 1984 and reviving again in the 2010s. We are now almost up to full strength and growing our reputation as a friendly band providing high quality entertainment. \n\nEvents\nConcerts and other events already planned during 2026 are: \nSaturday 6th June from 12 noon- Kirk Ireton Carnival \nSunday 28th June at 1pm – Sabine Hay Farm: Exile Music Festival \nSunday 9th August at 7pm – Concert at Barringtons\, Darley Dale \nSunday 8th November at 3pm – Remembrance Sunday at the Whitworth Centre\, Darley Dale \nSunday 6th December from 5.30pm – Winster Christmas Lights \nSaturday 12th December 2026 at 7.30pm – Christmas Concert with Holymoorside Choral Society at St John’s\, Walton \nTo get intouch \, click here \n00
