United by a shared passion at Southwell Garden Centre
Southwell Garden Centre was taken over in 2000 by Dan O’Neill and Paul Hellaby, the current owners, and remains a dedicated family business with gardening and customer service at its heart. Many of the traditional values that the business was built on are just as important to us today: Dan, Paul and the rest of our Southwell Garden Centre family work hard to provide the highest quality plants and goods, expert advice, excellent value, an extensive range and the best service around.
Dan trained at the horticultural college in Pershore where he met his wife Rachel, a fellow horticulturalist, prior to taking over Southwell Garden Centre with brother-in-law Paul. Paul had previously worked hard for many years as a dairy farmer in Derbyshire and together the two of them live and breathe the outdoor life. Nigel is our other resident horticultural expert, and Cathy & Juliet take alot of time and care to make sure our displays are as colourful, varied and attractive as possible. We consider Dan, Paul, Nigel, Michele, & Rudi and all of the staff at the garden centre to be our family – everyone is united by a shared passion for gardening and the local area.

Bluebird Care: supporting people to remain living safely and independently at home
Susan and Philip King have been operating Bluebird Care in Belper since May 2013, covering the Derbyshire Dales and Amber Valley area. Their service offers a visiting care service of between a 30 minutes support call a day to multiple hours, in addition to a live-in companionship and support service. Support is usually within the home, but can be out and about in the community.
The service was rated as Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in 2020 and is a testimony to the great teamwork, bringing true quality to support at home.
Susan says that it is a real privilege supporting people to remain living safely and independently at home, and an unexpected bonus has been the pleasure of their role as employers, saying, “We hadn’t anticipated that!”

Rowditch Furnishers was established in 1965 at the Rowditch, Uttoxeter Rd, Derby. This is where the unusual name for a shop in Mickleover came from. The shop stocks upholstery, beds and carpets.
