Higham Farm Hotel is proud to announce its AA 4-star hotel status, marking a significant milestone in its history. Located in the Derbyshire countryside, this restored 15th-century farmhouse offers guests a combination of historic character and modern hospitality. In addition to hosting weddings and private events, Higham Farm welcomes both visitors and travellers throughout the day. The hotel offers lunch and dinner menus, as well as light snacks, afternoon tea, and freshly made coffee with homemade cakes. It is an ideal destination for both relaxed gatherings and special occasions.

The hotel’s 31 bedrooms have been modernised in recent years. Investments include a new fitness gym and updated coffee lounge, dining area, and main restaurant. Guests can enjoy Amber Valley views from the terrace or relax in the gardens during warmer months.
This recognition coincides with a busy period for the kitchen team. Head Chef Raymond Moody, who leads the AA Rosette-awarded restaurant, will represent Higham Farm at the Chatsworth Country Fair this September for the fifth consecutive year. Chef Ray will appear in the Cookery Theatre on Sunday, September 6 at 11:30 AM.
Chef Ray and his team create seasonal menus using locally sourced ingredients, including Wagyu beef from Warrendale and honey from Quinn Bee, Wingerworth. They work with local suppliers to keep regional produce central to their cuisine. Menus are updated seasonally to offer guests the freshest options.
Higham Farm Hotel’s Managing Director, Roma Hatton, expressed her pride in the team’s hard work. “I thrive on offering our customers a great service, and we have achieved it to a very high standard for many years. To see that dedication officially recognised with our new AA 4-star status is incredibly special. In this trade, you do need a wonderful team behind you to succeed, and I have been blessed with one. I have never classed the hotel as work; it is in my heart; it is my passion.”
Higham Farm serves as both a community gathering place and a hotel. With its new 4-star status and upcoming events, it looks forward to welcoming more guests. Visitors can also anticipate a new autumn menu, wine-tasting evenings, and special dining offers.
