Saturday 22nd August 2026
Annual Flower & Vegetable Show, which takes place on Saturday 22nd August 2026. We’re especially pleased that this year’s show will be officially opened by the Mayor of Derby, making it an extra-special occasion.
A Brief History
The Spondon Horticultural Society was first recorded in 1862, with its annual shows divided into classes for Gentry, Farmers and Cottagers—many of the winning family names are still familiar in Spondon today.
By 1869, the event had grown into the famous “Horticultural Fête”, attracting visitors from Derby and surrounding villages to admire spectacular displays from Locko Hall, Spondon Hall and local gardeners. While the event is smaller today, the Annual Flower & Vegetable Show proudly continues this long-standing village tradition over 160 years later.
