Crich Tramway Village

Welcome, families! Are you looking for a unique and memorable day out? Look no further than Crich Tramway Village! Nestled in the heart of Derbyshire, this charming attraction offers a delightful blend of history, fun, and adventure, making it an ideal destination for families of all ages.

You can travel back in time with Crich Tramway Village and take a ride on a vintage tram! While it runs along a period street and climbs up a mile and a half of track, your little ones will be left memorised by the beautiful views.

The Trams

Every day you can enjoy historic tram rides that regularly depart from Town End.

This family attraction will have you enjoying a captivating journey into history as you learn all about the historic trams.

Head to The Great Exhibition Hall, where you can find a variety of static trams detailing the Century of Trams, from horse-drawn to electric.

You can also bring your furry friends on board, but only dogs on leads.

Period Village

You’ll also be transported to a bygone era. The beautifully restored trams, dating from the early 1900s to the 1960s, aren’t just museum pieces; they’re fully operational! Families can hop on and off different trams, experiencing a piece of living history as they ride along the scenic mile-long track.

Throughout the year, the village hosts exciting events like Easter celebrations, summer fun, music inspired events and Halloween spookiness. These seasonal touches add an extra layer of excitement to family visits.

Stunning Scenery

A family day isn’t complete without some outdoor fun, which is why Crich Tramway Village is the ideal exploration. Spread over three acres, the village offers plenty of space for children to explore and play.

Families can admire the spectacular views as they explore the fascinating Woodland Walk and Sculpture Trail. You can wind your way back to the village or remain on the tram and be dropped off outside The Red Lion Pub and cafe before visiting the fascinating Workshop Viewing Gallery.

Enjoy stunning views of Derwent Valley and the Derbyshire Countryside, as you’re surrounded by beautiful nature. Discover the Giant Wood Ant, the Green Man and even the restored Victorian horse cabmen’s shelter at the Wakebridge tram stop.

Educational and Fun

Crich Tramway Village is more than just a fun day out. It’s a fantastic educational experience too.

The interactive exhibits and knowledgeable staff provide insights into the history of trams and public transport. Kids and adults alike will love learning about how trams transformed cities and the lives of ordinary people.

Food & Drink

With a cafe and pub you’ll find something to satisfy everyone’s appetite. Vegetarian and gluten free options are available on request.

The cafe offers delicious homemade cakes and meals, while the picnic areas are perfect for those who prefer to bring their own food.
